This journey from Sofia will take you to the northwestern corner of Bulgaria, where you'll discover the Belogradchik Rocks nestled in the Balkan Mountains. The Belogradchik Rocks, recognised as a Natural Landmark by the Bulgarian government, are one of the region’s top attractions.
You'll travel through a landscape of impressive rock formations, primarily composed of sandstone, that have been shaped into various intriguing forms over time. Each formation is associated with legends, and many are named after the people or objects they resemble.
During your tour, the guide will share some of these stories, pointing out the specific formations along the way. You'll also have the opportunity to explore the medieval Belogradchik Fortress, perched on a hill near the rocks. Originally constructed during the Roman Empire, this historic site boasts a well-preserved and imposing facade.
The trip also includes a visit to the nearby Venetsa Cave. Renowned for its striking natural formations, this cave is further enhanced by modern, colourful lighting, making it a sight not to be missed. This day trip offers an opportunity to explore some of Bulgaria's natural wonders in one day.
