TransportA great day out. Transfers were very good. The 'guide' at the port was useless. No explanation of where to go, which queue to join or what you needed to show the ticket check in. As seasoned travellers this was OK but not for some. Nobody pointed out the time difference between Rhodes and Turkey! this meant we were back at the Port an hour early which was very frustrating. Good but long day out. Well worth it.
You can add another stamp to your passport on this day trip, as you trade Turkey for Greece on a short hop across the Aegean Sea to the island of Rhodes.
You'll be welcomed at Fethiye port and guided straight to the priority boarding area. Then, jump on board a catamaran for a cruise across to Rhodes town. Here, you can explore the capital's pretty harbour, walled old quarter and upmarket New Town. You'll spend the morning ticking off sights like the charming Street of the Knights and the huge Palace of the Grand Masters. Make your way along the maze of cobbled streets, where you'll be surrounded by fountains, medieval churches and shops selling handmade goods and Greek delicacies.
Speaking of food, you'll have a choice of hidden bistros or bustling waterfront bars for lunch. Later, you can head to Mandraki harbour. It was once home to the legendary Colossus of Rhodes – one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. And if you fancy seeing more of the island, hop on the land train, which takes you up to the ancient Olympic ruins and offers sweeping views across the sea.
