What to expect

Step into the world of traditional Greek craftsmanship on the lush island of Samos. This experience offers a deep dive into forty-five years of expertise in the art of gypsum, bridging ancient techniques with modern creativity. Located in historic Karlovasi, a place of rich industrial heritage, the workshop is a sanctuary where education and art converge.

The journey begins with a mystical visual tour, revealing the secrets of gypsum in Greek architecture, from classical light to the neoclassical elegance of Aegean mansions. A unique highlight is the Cross-Board Casting innovation—an invisible cultural bridge connecting the maritime horizon of Samos with the ancestral energy of the Peloponnese, transferring tradition across Greece.

The experiential stage invites a direct, ritualistic engagement with the material. Participants select from specialised moulds inspired by the glorious eras of Greek heritage. The process covers every step, from preparing the raw material to the moment of casting, where the liquid solidifies into form. This session offers a rare opportunity to connect with a Gypsum craftsman’s journey in an authentic environment.

Upon completion, a unique gypsum replica emerges, ready to be carried home as a personal amulet of memory. Designed for small groups to ensure a personalised atmosphere, this workshop offers a tangible connection to the eternal artistic heritage of Greece.

Gliding through the Ireon village, you'll pass secluded beaches and rocky coves. Whilst being served fresh fruit and refreshments by the crew, you may even be lucky enough to spot a dolphin or two. Then, you'll relax and top up your tan until it's time to swim ashore at Samipoula. Spend time here exploring the island's unspoiled landscape, its lone church, or enjoying a dip in the Aegean. The water here is calm and clear, so expect to see plenty of fish.
