Dark and windy but plenty of restaurants and bars, and very friendly, we had a lovely meal in town, visited various souvenir shops, bought a neck lass and earrings set for Birthday treat, wandered back to drop off point and ordered Ice cream cornets single scoops, big enough to satisfy anyone from Luigi's Parlor shop, on main road near pick up point, if anything could be better if coach returned earlier, maybe 20 minutes to half hour sooner than set time at 10.30 on this occasion.
An evening out at one of Samos's whitewashed towns takes some beating. And on this excursion you'll get to while away the night doing just what you feel like, whether that's tucking into a seafood dinner by the marina, having a sundowner or two, or picking up some souvenirs for home. Take your pick from Pythagorion or Kokkari, depending on where you're staying.
If you opt to spend the evening in the seaside town of Pythagorion, make a beeline for the ancient harbour where you'll find a whole host of busy tavernas grilling up the day's catch on hot coals. Then follow the noise to a lively bouzouki bar or enjoy an evening stroll along the seafront arm in arm.
Alternatively, you can hit the fishing village of Kokkari where a chilled-out evening watching the sun go down will be on the cards. You'll have a choice of seafood restaurants overlooking the water and a few hole-in-the-wall bars dishing out ice-cool drinks. The best part is that transport's all sorted from your hotel to the resort and back.
