What to expect

Saddle up for an exciting adventure at Rancho Grande – the island's biggest working horse ranch. Choose between a sunset horse or wagon ride through rural Majorca. And on this evening trip, there's plenty for non-riders too, like a wagon tour of the ranch, live music and a delicious barbecue feast for all.

You can hop on a horse for a sunset trail ride through the untouched fields and woods around the ranch or take a horse-drawn wagon tour complete with free-flowing sangria and live music as you go.

Back at the ranch, it's time for a tasty barbecue feast followed by the chance to release your inner cowboy or cowgirl with some line dancing. There's also a mini-zoo for the kids. It's good old-fashioned Wild West fun.

Overall horse riding experience was excellent well informed to suitablility of individual. Food was delicious but not enough meat was offered, otherwise very generous with drinks and salad. Entertainment was good and had a good variety, just as the evening went on it was getting bitterly cold, maybe a suggestion of some heater or controlled log fires to go with the beautiful setting. Extremely happy to experience this particular excursion. Many thanks.

Too many people and too disorganised. Lots of waiting around. Dancing horses involved in the show at the end which just seemed cruel to me. Horse trainer used two whips and spurs whilst riding.. Horses used for trek ride often stumbled on the uneven dirt track, the horses all have names which ranch members seem to know so positive. However If horses were respected I would have like to have seen more evidence of this, i.e info provided on how they were cared for or where they slept.

When you arrive you a given a small paper cup of sangria or Fanta. We unfortunately had to wait another hour before everyone arrived. No complaints with staff or choice of horses but the food at the so called barbeque was very poor. Chicken on a skewer for starters with a little lettuce and tomato. Main course for us was pork, which looked like a very poor cut of beef which was terrible along with some baked potatoes followed by a tiny ice cream. The entertainment was reasonable, bring a jacket

The wagon ride was brilliant. As was the Sangria ! Plus the entertainment . The B.B Q was good ,but steak a bit too tough for me .The Other food was most enjoyable.

Because their town was so hard to reach behind the mountains, they built the railway with their own money a century ago so they could be connected to Palma and export their famous oranges.'Kick off in Valldemossa, a cluster of stone houses tumbling from a ridge in the heart of the Tramuntana Mountains. You can either explore the village under your own steam or join a guided tour to learn more about its history and culture. Guided tour of Hams Caves with Dinosaurland visit

As family outings in Majorca go, it's hard to beat this double-header to the Hams Caves and Dinosaurland. It's a spine-tingling journey into the island's pre-history, where Genesis and Titanosaur will leave you open-mouthed. Marga, one of our local guides, says, "this tour really captures the imagination as you go from one of Majorca's oldest attractions, the 10-million-year-old Hams Caves, to one of the newest, the recently opened Dinosaurland."The Hams Caves may be millions of years old, but they were discovered only last century. And since then, they've become one of the island's top attractions. As you explore the three main caves, you'll learn about the island's original inhabitants. The semi-open Round Cave, with its botanical vegetation, has a Jurassic feel to it – and whets your appetite for what's inside. In the Blue Cave, an audiovisual timelapse documentary called Genesis recounts the history of Majorca from the Big Bang to today. And the Classic Cave, which is a network of 12 chambers, is full of mystery. There's also a soothing Venetian-inspired music show.The mild gives way to the wild at Dinosaurland, where you'll walk among the more than 100 life-sized recreations of dinosaurs, including the mythical Titanosaurus, at more than 50 metres long. Some consider it to have been the largest species. The kids can also play at being palaeontologists, enjoy games and puzzles or try their hand at drawing. A great day out for the whole family.
