Some experiences are unmistakably British – think afternoon tea, iconic riverside views of Big Ben and the winter lights of the capital reflecting on the water. This Thames cruise serves it all up in finest festive style. You’ll spend 90 minutes on a seasonally decked-out boat, tucking into three tiers of sweet and savoury treats while the city’s famous landmarks sparkle beyond the windows. James, one of our local guides, adds, "There’s something special about seeing the capital’s big sights while cruising down the river that’s poured the very life into London since Roman times. No river would mean no London.”
As you settle in for a cosy afternoon tea, you can expect a spread of festively flavoured sandwiches, warm scones and sweet treats. The tea and coffee flow freely and you can order cocktails, prosecco or even a warming mulled wine from the bar – ‘tis the season. It’s a laidback afternoon of indulgence that hits the spot for festive family get-togethers, celebrations, or simply seeing the city in style.
Setting off from Butler’s Wharf, you’ll head out onto the river under the twin pillars of Tower Bridge before passing by the Tower of London, Shakespeare’s Globe and St Paul’s Cathedral. They’re all brimming with legendary stories and our guides bring their history to life with expert insights – and one was even christened at the Cathedral himself! The festive décor, tasty spread and the city’s twinkling winter skyline are sure to get you into the holiday spirit.
