What to expect

Add an extra edge of fun to exploring the lunar-like landscapes of Lanzarote's remote north. This exciting off-road adventure sees you driving your own dirt buggy over volcanoes, vast plains and through villages like Guatiza and Mala. Choose between a two or three-hour tour.

With a long list of sights to tick off, you'll get this buggy tour off to a flying start as you drive alongside the open cacti fields of Guatiza towards Los Cocoteros – a great viewpoint over the sea. Next, you'll search for cacti plants to learn about the cochineal insect and its uses – you'll be surprised.

Then, head up along the winding road to the pretty village of Mala by the coast to check out the huge dam built there in 1975. On our way back to Teguise via Guatiza, there'll be a chance to really see what your dirt buggy can do as we speed back to base...

Cesar Manrique’s Lanzarote tour with cactus garden and LagOmar
Excursions & day trips

Cesar Manrique’s Lanzarote tour with cactus garden and LagOmar

With its vine-laden lava fields, exuberant architecture and otherworldly landscapes, Lanzarote looks and feels like something from a sci-fi movie set. This exclusive half-day tour takes in the Cesar Manrique Foundation and his Cactus Garden, followed by a visit to LagOmar. Rosa, one of our expert local guides, says, "Manrique convinced his fellow islanders to invest in tourism without overdevelopment, making sure any human impact is in harmony with our volcanic landscapes."Manrique was admired by many in his lifetime, and his influence on Lanzarote's culture lives on. He was a versatile artist producing paintings, sculptures and architectural works, bringing sustainability to the forefront of his creations, long before it became a buzzword. You'll first tour his Jardín de Cactus, where 1,100 species of sculptural succulents are grown. You can see instantly how Manrique's skill and vision enhanced the barren landscape. Similarly, the Fundacion Cesar Manrique demonstrates that harmony between the built environment and nature can succeed. A visit to the artist's home-studio, built into a lava field, is ample proof. Your final stop of the tour will be at LagOmar, a stunning spot that seamlessly combines nature and art. This unique place is set in a volcanic quarry and includes features like a cave-bar, restaurant, and a museum. Local legend has it that Hollywood icon Omar Sharif briefly owned it, only to lose it in a game of cards.

Transfer to Saborea Lanzarote Food Festival

This exclusive transfer to Lanzarote's biggest and tastiest food festival offers all the ingredients for a great day out, with a side order of local specialities and great wine. For one day only, the colonial village of Teguise becomes the island's culinary capital. Rosa, one of our expert local guides, says "the Saborea Lanzarote festival is a unique gathering of top-notch chefs, mouth-watering tapas, and locally produced wines – a truly unrivalled mix. It's a must-visit event at the Canaries' most important gastronomic celebration."After pickup, we'll head on a scenic drive to Teguise – a whitewashed hamlet nestled in the heart of the island. This idyllic village is a joy to wander around at the best of times, but when it comes to Saborea Lanzarote, which translates to Taste Lanzarote, it's even better. Browse the stalls and take in the aromas – you'll see the likes of home-grown potatoes from Los Valles, prawns from La Santa, hake from La Graciosa, all cultivated and harvested sustainably. There'll be plenty of opportunities to try local delicacies, and if you get a taste for them, you can purchase products directly from the very hands that nurtured them – the producers, fishermen, and farmers themselves. If you love good food and fine wines in a beautiful setting, this event will not disappoint. With an impressive line-up of 60 restaurants, 12 wineries, and six cheesemakers, you'll be spoilt for choice on where to start. So if you're lucky enough to be in Lanzarote on November 23rd, make sure to book early as this is a very popular and in-demand activity.
