Things to do in Paestum
Visiting the archeological site of Paestum makes you feel like you’ve stepped back in time, it is like walking into ancient Greece for a day. Founded in the 6th Century BC by the Greeks it became of Roman property in 273 BC and was then abandoned because of epidemics at the fall of the Roman Empire. The 85 km site is completely surrounded by a solid stone wall, still intact. Within this perimeter you can admire many buildings and temples, all built in different time periods.
Of the best known ruins you have the three temples, built in honor of Athena, Hera and Neptune between 550 and 400 BC, all perfect early examples of major Doric style temples.
