This full day excursion, visiting Mount Etna and Catania, is the ideal way to get a taste of Sicily while enjoying your holiday in Malta.
Your journey begins on Pozzallo, a picturesque Sicilian fishing village. Upon arrival, you'll board air-conditioned coaches and set off with knowledgeable guides. En route to Mount Etna you'll stop to sample typical Sicilian delicacies, including wines, almond sweets and honey; these are available for purchase (optional). Then visit the Sylvester Craters of Mount Etna, with time for lunch (not included in the price) and souvenir shopping.
Mount Etna is the largest and most active volcano in Europe. The climb takes you through scenic villages and changing landscape. The lower slopes of the volcano are extremely fertile with groves of oranges, lemons and other Mediterranean flora and of course vines which produce Sicily's best wines. You'll go through forests of chestnut trees which gradually give way to oak, beech, birch and pine.
After lunch, you'll stop in Catania, enjoy a guided walking tour through the vibrant city centre, renowned for its history and Baroque architecture. Afterwards, enjoy free time to explore landmarks such as Piazza del Duomo, Via Etnea, the popular fish market, the Roman Amphitheatre and Villa Bellini.
