4x4 tourA Great trip. The guide/driver was very good indeed. He spoke perfekt english and had a lot of knowledge about the area. The peak of the trip was the walk in the ghost town. We were driven i landrower, a bit cramped, but quite okay.
This popular full-day 4x4 tour will take you into the northern part of Cyprus. You'll visit intriguing spots, including the ancient city of Salamis and the old town of Famagusta, as well as passing by the ‘ghost town' of Varosha.
Your journey into the past starts with a photo stop at Deryneia before you'll pass through the UN buffer zone to the northern part of the island. Pass by Varosha, once a popular beach resort and now a 1970's time capsule. Then you'll have free time to explore Famagusta and see the main sights, including the Venetian castle and the Gothic cathedral turned mosque.
Your journey continues to the ancient site of Salamis. You'll have time to explore its ancient roads and ruined temples as well as the partially restored amphitheatre. There's also time to find a spot to grab some lunch before visiting the tomb of St. Barnabas, the patron saint of Cyprus.
