Led by a professional guide, you'll explore the historic centre of Florence and follow its transformation from Roman origins through the Middle Ages to the Renaissance, when the Medici family played a key role in shaping the city.
Your walk begins in the Medici district, where you'll pass along streets once frequented by this influential dynasty. You'll see Palazzo Medici Riccardi, their first residence, and continue to the San Lorenzo area, home to the Basilica di San Lorenzo and the Medici Chapels, viewed from the outside.
From here, you'll head to Piazza del Duomo, the religious heart of the city. This monumental complex includes the Cattedrale di Santa Maria del Fiore with Brunelleschi's Dome, the Baptistery with the Gates of Paradise, and Giotto's bell tower.
The route continues through the medieval quarter, passing Casa di Dante and the busy Via Calzaioli. You'll stop by Orsanmichele Church, a masterpiece of Florentine Gothic architecture, and visit the Mercato del Porcellino, where you can rub the statue's nose for good luck.
In Piazza della Signoria, Florence's historic political centre, you'll discover an open-air display of sculptures, including the Fountain of Neptune, the Loggia dei Lanzi and Palazzo Vecchio with its tall tower. You'll also step into Michelozzo's courtyard.
The tour ends near Ponte Vecchio, known for its traditional jewellery shops. An audio guide app is included so you can continue exploring Florence at your own pace after the tour.
