The rustic whitewashed villages dotted around the Andalusian sierra are some of the most enchanting places to visit, especially when there's a special event happening. Ana, one of our expert local guides, says, 'On June 8th 2024, Ronda steps back in time to 1509, and the town is transformed into a stage. See parades featuring locals dressed up in period costumes to represent 'Damas Goyescas,' 'Arrieros' and 'Bandoleros,' traditional figures from Ronda's history. There's lots of music and merriment too.'
This tour takes you deep into the mountains to explore the precariously perched town of Ronda in fiesta mode, and also get to know the village of Setenil de las Bodegas. In Ronda, as well as watching the special events, you'll have free time to browse the markets, visit the Mondragon Palace, the Church of Santa Maria la Mayor or the Palace of St John Bosco, which affords incredible views over the bridge.
Soak up its traditional ‘pueblo blanco' charm as you wander along medieval streets and cross the famous bridge 100 metres above the gorge. Afterwards, continue through the valley to the final stop at the village of Setenil de las Bodegas. This picturesque town is known for its unique architecture, where some of its houses are built directly into the surrounding cliffs. The narrow and winding streets meander among the rock formations, creating a charming atmosphere. You enjoy some more free time before returning to your hotel.
