Things to do in Plaça de les Glòries Catalanes
Plaça de les Glòries Catalanes is a large square in Barcelona, Spain where several of the city’s main avenues meet. Known to locals simply as Glòries, this urban plaza is centered around a wide green space and is surrounded by iconic buildings such as the Torre Glòries skyscraper, the Design Museum of Barcelona, and the National Theater of Catalonia.
Located at the border of the Sant Martí and Eixample neighbourhoods, the Plaça de les Glòries Catalanes was named after a group of Catalan nationalist leaders who fought for the rights and autonomy of Catalonia. This square is used as a gathering place for special events and is home to one of Europe’s oldest open-air flea markets, Els Encants Vells (Old Charms Market).
