This tour combines two of Almeria's top attractions – the Cabo de Gata Nature Reserve and the historic hilltop village of Mojacar. You'll cruise off the coast of the nature reserve and then head by coach to Mojacar, one of the prettiest pueblos in eastern Andalusia. As one of our local guides puts it, “Cabo de Gata is where Almeria shows its wild side – it's still the same coastline our grandparents knew, untouched and full of stories.” It's a day that blends raw nature with centuries of human history.Sailing from the port of Carboneras, the boat trip offers great views of Cabo de Gata Nature Reserve – the largest protected coastal area in Spain. From the water, you'll really appreciate its dramatic volcanic landscape as you glide past hidden coves, imposing cliffs and pretty, unspoilt beaches that are difficult to reach by land. You'll also see the enticing Playa de los Muertos – though it means ‘Beach of the Dead', it's more a case of a beach to die for, and it regularly ranks among Spain's most beautiful beaches.Then it's time for Mojacar itself. A guided tour will give you the lowdown on its long history – it's believed to have been settled some 4,000 years ago – as you wander through winding alleys lined with whitewashed homes and bursts of colour from flower-filled balconies. Along the way, you'll see key landmarks such as the Moorish fountain, the old city gate and St Mary's church. And on the return journey, you'll pass through the impressive Tabernas desert.

Along the way, you'll stop by the coast for a coffee break, before spending some free time in the port of San José.Cabo de Gata-Níjar Natural Park is bursting with unusual landscapes and an arid, desert-like appeal. Known for it's wild beauty and diverse wildlife, the park boasts some of the most spectacular coastal scenery in the country. You'll see some of the dramatic terrain as you travel through the park, and you'll stop at the fishing village of Isleta del Moro for a closer look at the coast.The last stop will be the sugar-cube village of San José, its whitewashed buildings curving around a pretty beach. You'll have some time to explore at your own pace, browsing the shops and enjoying the lively atmosphere in the streets, where you'll find a handful of busy bars and seafood restaurants.
