Things to do in Cabo de Gata-Níjar Natural Park
Located in Spain's southeast coast, Cabo de Gata-Níjar Natural Park is the largest protected coastal area in Andalusia. Declared as a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve in 1997, this park is characterised by volcanic rocks and calderas as well as coral reefs and Posidonia seagrass.
The Cabo de Gata area is well-known for its small typical villages and unpolluted beaches. The village of San José, with its whitewashed houses, is a must-see attraction for tourists together with the beaches of Las Salinas and Corralete Cove with their crystal-clear waters and abundant marine life.
Also, in Cabo de Gata Salt Works it is possible to admire the only active salt lakes in this part of Andalusia. These salt lakes date back to the time of Greek colonisation and have been active since then.
