A popular summertime getaway for Athenians, the island of Aegina offers everything you need for a balanced trip out. Spend the morning exploring historic monuments, including the famed Temple of Aphaia, then it's off to the beach and Aegina Town for some well-deserved swimming and shopping.
It's only an hour's ferry crossing from Piraeus to Aegina island, so you'll arrive on its picture-perfect shores in no time. You'll head straight for the immense, unfinished Church of Agios Nektarios by bus, before reaching the island's must-see, the Temple of Aphaia. It's located on top of a hill, too, so you'll also be treated views over the coast.
Afterwards, you'll have time for swimming and sunbathing at one of the longest sandy beaches on the island, Agia Marina. Then return to the port to grab a few souvenirs in Aegina Town before your return sailing.
